During a bronchoscopy, the pulmonologist will look inside your airways using a bronchoscope. This instrument consists of a thin flexible tube with a lens or a small video camera attached. The bronchoscope is passed through the mouth or nose between the vocal cords into the airway. The purpose is to look at the mucosa and, if necessary, take tissue samples for further examination.
