The first day of the internship
Students doing an internship at our hospital receive an "onboarding" session by the HR department at the start of the internship. Additionally, they are provided with a personal badge (student AZJP with number) granting them access to standard facilities and the bicycle parking. Moreover, the badge entitles them to staff rates at the cafeteria.
The onboarding session is conducted only on Mondays. The intern should arrive at the HR department (block D, 2nd floor) by 9 a.m. If the internship starts on a different day, the HR department will contact the intern/school to arrange which Monday the student will attend the "onboarding" session. The intern can collect the badge on the first day of the internship.
A mentor will be present on the first day at the department where the intern is doing the internship to welcome them.
The onboarding process
- Issuance of the student badge with a deposit of €10 (interns in the final year of nursing receive a named badge without a deposit)
- Checking of logins (if applicable)
- Arranging any necessary documents
- Introduction to the hospital (history, new buildings, values, vision, mission, cafeteria) through a presentation
- A tour of the building
- Escorting each intern to their respective department
The intern receives a packet containing:
- Checklist (reviewed with the mentor)
- Hospital floor plan
- Welcome gift
- Pen
End of the internship
During the last week of the internship, the intern will be asked to fill out an evaluation of the internship placement. This will be done via a link (Google Forms) sent via email.
On the last day of the internship, the intern must go to the HR department by 4:30 p.m. to return the badge and receive the deposit back. If the last day of the internship falls on a non-working day or a late shift (night), the intern should contact HR to arrange the return of the badge (with deposit refund).
