In accordance with Article 30 of the Law on Hospitals and Other Care Institutions, all patients are entitled to receive information from the hospital about the nature of the legal relationship between the hospital and the professionals working there.



At AZ Jan Portaels, the following legal relationships exist between the hospital and the professionals working there:



Physicians are self-employed practitioners

Nurses are either statutory or contractual staff

Midwives are either statutory or contractual staff

Patient care assistants are either statutory or contractual staff

Physiotherapists are self-employed, statutory or contractual staff

Pharmacists are contractual staff

Speech therapists are self-employed staff

Pedicurists are self-employed staff

Podiatrists are self-employed staff

Hairdressers are self-employed staff

Other workers are contractual staff



You can request individual information about each professional from the HR department. This information will be communicated in writing and within 5 working days. 



Central Liability



Those professionals who are self-employed will take out  their own professional liability insurance. They are therefore required to take out insurance for themselves in this regard.
